Click on an image to enlarge
Here is your chance to own a very cool piece of Mississippi history! This is an original un-cut and un-issued paper sheet containing 15 pieces of Mississippi currency from 1864. These are the original 1864 dated state of Mississippi 50 cent notes. In the lower left hand corner is the picture of a slave hoeing cotton. It has the printed date of issuance of May 1st 1864. The front of the note has the pretty red overprint that reads "50 Cts". At the bottom of the note it has the correct printed signature and would have had the hand written serial numbers if they had been issued. If you notice along the top of each note it has the small print that states that they were printed by J. Patterson & Company of Augusta, Georgia. Each note measures approximately 5 inches by 2.5 inches in overall size. The back of the sheet is unmarked which is referred to as them being "Uniface". They are beautiful notes and the sheet displays superbly from all angles. THIS ITEM IS FEATURED ON OUR SHILOHRELICS YOUTUBE CHANNEL. HERE IS A LINK SO YOU CAN SEE WHY WE THOUGHT IT WAS NEAT ENOUGH FOR A VIDEO: MISSISSIPPI CURRENCY SHEET
