Early 1862 Confederate 5 Cent Jeff Davis Stamped Envelope to Richard Archer
Click on an image to enlarge

This is a great looking early piece of Confederate postal history! It is one of the earliest patterns of Confederate postage stamps and according to the books it was printed in 1862. This is the one that has the image of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in the center. They each are for the value of five cents and is so printed along the bottom edge of the stamp. Around the image it proudly reads "CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA". The stamp is nicely printed with deep blue tone ink and the image shows well. This one is addressed to Richard Archer in Port Gibson, Mississippi. We found Arxcher and here is a link to his information. It is a neat addition to a pair of fine stamps. This is a very nice looking authentic Confederate postage stamp and one of the tougher styles to find and you get the envelope as a bonus. '
