5th Maryland Infantry War Department Confirmation of Discharge of Jacob Ickers

This is an original document on War Department stationery from Washington D.C. dated June 5th 1865. It is confirming that Private Jacob Ockers of the 5th Maryland Infantry was discharged from service. At the bottom it states that he was at the Corps Hospital at McKinis Mansion Hospital in Baltimore. It is pre-printed with the blanks filled in with fine brown ink. The document measures 8-1/4th inches by 13 inches in overall size. The records show that Ickers enlisted on September 12th 1862 and served until he was discharged for disability on July 7th 1865. A brief printout on Icker's service and that of the 5th Maryland will accompany the document.
