Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a VERY cool piece! This is an original Civil War envelope that was used twice. This is what is known as a "Turned Cover". They get their name because once they were received, the person turns the paper inside out so they can use it again. This one is addressed to Lt. G.S. Pace who was serving with the 5th Mississippi State Troops Infantry. In the upper right hand corner it has the pair of five cent Jefferson Davis Confederate postage stamps with the postmark. On the other side it has the address to a person in Stonewall, Mississippi. It also has the additional pair of Jeff Davis 5 Cent Stamps. The envelope has the cool looking age and wear and displays well as you can see.
