This is one nicely designed piece of Civil War money. It is
an original $1.00 bank note from The City Council of Augusta, Georgia. What
makes it nice is the great seal of the State of Georgia design in the center of
the note. The note is smaller and measures 6-1/4th inches by 2-3/4ths inches in
size. It has the printed issuance date of November 27th 1861 in the
lower left hand center of the note. The note is in well circulated condition
with a repair to the right-hand side and it is priced accordingly. It is
correctly hand signed and on the reverse, you can see that it was printed on
re-used paper from other bank notes. This was cheaper for the bank that getting
new paper especially during the War when paper was scarce. The note comes in an
acid free holder for display and preservation.
