This is a nice looking original CDV image of a Civil War Union soldier. The soldiers would buy these from the photographers in the cities or even from traveling photographers that would come to camp. They would purchase them in small quantities to send home to family or friends. This one shows the chest up view of a Union soldier in his uniform. He is wearing his frock style military coat. You can see the edge of his shoulder insignia that appear to have the open field which would denote the rank of Lieutenant. On the back of the card it has the Baton Rouge, Louisiana photographer marking from the A.D. Lytle Photographer. This is a fine looking original CDV image of a Union soldier in uniform.
