Confederate 1861 $10 Note with The Slave Picking Image T-29
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a very cool note. This is a tough to find original Confederate $10 note from 1861. TThis is the pattern of note that is listed as the T-29 note in Criswell's guide. In the center of the note it has the image of the slave picking cotton and on the right hand side it has the canal scene. It has the date when it was issued on September 2nd 1861 from Richmond and that part is clearly printed on the front. It is hand signed and numbered in fine old ink. On the reverse of the note it is unprinted which is correct for this style of currency. This single sided printing is referred to by collectors as being "Uniface". It measures 7 inches by 3 inches in overall size. The note is in circulated condition and comes in an acid-free holder for preservation and display. The note in the lower left hand corner states how it was printed by "B. Duncan" in Richmond, Virginia. This is a nice original Civil War Confederate currency note!
