This is an interesting original document that is dated from June 1836. It is from a group of documents that came from St. Mary's County in Maryland. It shows that William J. Herbert paid to Dr. Robert Manning whre he had "Hired a servant" for the sum of $50 a year and notes that they had to "...deduct for loss of servants time in August..."The paper is 5-1/2 inches by 7-3/4th inches in overall size and the fine old brown ink is clear and very legible. It is an interesting document from the antebellum South.
