Here is a nice original Civil War veteran reunion ribbon. This one is from the 1883 reunion of the members of the 179th New York Volunteer Infantry. At the top of the ribbon it has the"5th ANNUAL REUNION OF THE 179th REGIMENT N.Y.S. Volunteers". At the bottom it has the red lettering reads "Thursday, Oct. 11,'83". The 179th New York fought in Virginia including the battles of Cold Harbor, Petersburg and Appomattox. During the War, the regiment had 68 men killed in action. The ribbon has aged to a pretty greenish tan color. The ribbon measures 7 inches by 2 inches in overall size. It comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation.
