This is a fine looking shoulderbelt plate from the 1880's. This one would have been worn by a member of the 65th regiment. The stamped brass plate has the number "65" made of nickeled brass applied to the face of the plate. The overall size of the plate measures 2-1/4ths inches by 3-1/4th inches. On the reverse of the plate you can see the loop portion of the original attachment loops and also the back side of the Plate but the large pin is missing. It also has the attachment pins for the number on the face but the piece that holds the numbers in place. This is a very attractive piece all the way around.
