Rare Version Confederate Staff Officer Button With Section of the Uniform
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great button! This is a scarce original non-excavated cuff size version of the Confederate Staff Officer's coat button. On the face it has the clear droop wing style eagle that denotes serving as a Confederate staff officer. Around the border it has the stars and the lined background field. This button has the original back intact with shank perfectly intact. It has the correct Civil War backmark of "*HT&B MANCHESTER" which is the mark of the firm owned by the Hammond, Turner & Bates Company of London, England. This is the style listed as CS36av in Albert's button book and CS210as1 in Tice's button book, both of which we sell. This fine button would have been imported through the blockade to be sold by the high quality retailers. It would have adorned the front of a Confederate staff officer's coat that would have been proudly worn by that Confederate soldier. What makes this button extra special is because it has a section of the Confederate Officer's gray uniform cloth. It makes a wonderful addition to a superb Confederate staff officer's cuff button.
