This is a very fine non-excavated original 1-piece pattern artillery button. This is the version with the Eagle on the face that has the shield on the chest with the "A" that denotes the artillery branch of service. The original shank is intact with the correct and desirable pre-Civil War backmark. It is the version that has the 2 raised rings. This is the style listed as figure AY199A3 in Tice's button book. The button has a fine look and would be a great addition to any collection.
