Excellent Non-Dug Providence Marine Corps of Artillery Coat Button

This is a fine looking coat size Rhode Island uniform button. It is the uniform button listed as figure RI29 in Albert's button book and RI236 in Tice's button book. This was made for the Providence Marine Corps of Artillery out of Providence, Rhode Island. It has the cannon in the center of the face with a stack of cannonballs in front of the gun. It has the bold lettering of "PCMA" above and the date the unit was formed "1801" at the bottom. It has a good bit of the gold remaining on the face and the original back and shank with the correct Civil War backmark of D. Evans of Attleboro, Massachusetts. This is an excellent original Providence Marine Corps Artillery coat button.
