"Independent Cadets" Backmarked Vermont Artillery Militia Coat Button VT6
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a beautiful original coat size uniform button for the Vermont Militia. This is the version listed as VT6 in Albert's Button book and VT210a1 in Tice's button book. The face has a wonderful look with a fine amount of the original gold gilding intact. It has a wonderful color. It shows the spread wing eagle with the cannon down below and has "Vt. MILITIA ARTILLERY" around the edge. This one has a perfect shank intact on the back and a clear backmark of "INDEPENDENT CADETS". This is a very scarce backmark on this button. These were made by the firm of R&W Robinson of Attleborough, Massachusetts. This is a superb original coat size Vermont button and is a style that is hard to get.
