US Government Civilian Employee Patch Circa 1944

Here is a neat original patch from World War II. This is the style that is illustrated on plate 66 of the shoulder patch book by Barry Jason Stein. The book states that they were to be worn on pockets or on caps. These were authorized the 1944 and worn by civilians assisting the US military during World War II. In the book he states that they were worn from November 28, 1944 until about 1946. They also state that these patches were worn "to identify civilian employees as being under the protection of the Geneva Convention." The patch itself measures 3" x 2.625" in overall size.
