This is a wonderful looking piece! It is an original and rare Confederate pewter style C.S.A. belt buckle. This is the classic style buckle that was produced in Rome, Georgia by the Noble Brothers Foundry. This is the version that is illustrated on page #67 of the Confederate belt buckle book by Steve Mullinax. It has the C.S. A. lettering on the face which is nice and clear. Because these are made of pewter they often break. This one is in exceptional condition all the way around and is in beautiful excavated condition. On the reverse of the buckle it has all three of the iron wire style attachment loops intact. The history accompanying the buckle is that it was found in a Confederate Campsite in Mississippi by relic hunter Jeff Wedgeworth. This buckle came from the award winning collection of Joe Haile. His Confederate Belt Buckle display won numerous awards at the biggest Civil War shows across the country. This is your chance to own a buckle from his "Best of Show" award winning collection. This belt and buckle will fit in nicely with any museum quality collection.
