This is a fantastic display piece! It is a wonderful original Inaugural ribbon from the first inaguration of Abraham Lincoln. It measures 4-1/4th inches by 7-1/4th inches and comes archaically framed in a great looking wood frame that measures 12 inches by 15 inches. In the center it has the famous view of a bust of the young looking Abraham Lincoln. It is detailed with the beautiful floral wreath and surmounted by a patriotic shield with olive sprays, a spread-winged eagle, and a scroll reading, "Union Forever" with "A. Lincoln President" below. It has the printers' and engravers' names at each of the lower corner: "J. Chevre 1861 Isaac Dreyfus Sons, Basle [sic]." This ribbon was produced in Basel, Switzerland and imported for the presidential inauguration of 1861. This view of Lincoln is almost surely copied from the Currier & Ives print based on the famous "Cooper Union" photograph taken by Mathew Brady in 1860. This is a fantastic piece that is ready to hang on your wall.
