Here is a gorgeous original 4 inch barrel length version .31 caliber Colt revolver. This is the classic version known to collectors as the model 1849 Colt. It has all matching serial numbers, including the barrel wedge. The numbers are 204,346. Thanks to Mr. Colt’s bookkeepers we know that this would have been made in the middle of 1862. The brass trigger guard and backstrap have a great look to the brass that still retains almost all of the original factory silver. The barrel has a superb amount of the original factory bluing and the frame and hammer have beautiful factory case coloration. This gun is several steps above the ones that you usually encounter. It has nice mechanics on all positions. The original 1-piece wood grips are present with an attractive dark tone to the walnut. The cylinder retains and excellent amount of the cylinder scene and the serial number marking. The cylinder scene depicts the image of a stage coach being robbed by bandits. The top of the barrel has a clear double line Samuel Colt maker’s mark and Hartford Location. Hartford, Connecticut was the production location. These with the Hartford marking are much more scarce than the usual New York City location marking. The Colt’s Patent mark is visible on both the frame to go along with the barrel markings. This is a gorgeous original cased Civil War .31 caliber Colt revolver from 1862.
