Here is a beautifully displaying uniform from after the Civil War. This was probably a militia coat that was improvised to serve in the style that was worn by the Confederate veterans of the Civil War that were members of the United Confederate Veterans or U.C.V. The U.C.V. was the largest organization for Confederate Civil War veterans. As you can see this coat has some wear but still displays beautifully. It is the "Sack" coat style version that has the single row of buttons going down the front of the coat. The coat was designed for 5 buttons with 4 of the original buttons now going down the front. All of the buttons are correct veteran period post-Civil War Virginia buttons as you see. They look great on the front of the coat. Each of the button has the backmark of the Baltimore firm of J.H.F. Hahn. When you open up the coat your greeted by the original cloth chest and sleeve linings and they look great as you can see with some wear. This is a wonderful display coat that would likely date from around 1900.
