Here is an extremely scarce set! This is an original pair of Civil War knee high soldier's boots. What is special about this pair is that they are one of the very few surviving pairs that were made using a "Vulcanized" rubber coating. The upper sections are made of cloth with the rubberized coating and the body portion of the boots are leather with the coating. They have the thermoplastic bottoms. The bottoms still have the remnants of the eagle maker's marking visible on each boot. Goodyear held the patent for the process of sewing the materials. They had a few major flaws because when it was extremely hot the soles would melt and if they were cold they would crack and break easily. Because of these flaws, you can image that very few of them were made and even fewer survive today. Each boot stands 20 inches tall and they have the original cloth pulls intact. The bottoms of the boots measures 3-1/4th inches by 11 inches at the widest points. In our 30 years in the business this is the first pair that we have been able to offer. This is a fine set!
