When official letter were sent instead of a postage stamp it would be signed by the dignitary in lieu of postage. This autograph was placed on a Letter for Richard Forrest. This letter is on a one page of a piece of paper that measures 7-3/4ths inches by 9-1/2 inches in overall size. The letter is written in fine brown ink and it is dated from December 10th 1815. The letter is from Richard Forrest to Littleton W. Tazewell, Esq., concerning a certificate of stock. The letter was folded to form the envelope and it still has the majority of the original red wax seal. It is signed by President Monroe, "Dept of State Jas. Monroe." The letter comes gorgeously framed and matted along with a colored lithograph of Monroe and two informational plaques. The frame has the overall size of 29-1/2 inches by x 29-1/4th inches. The frame has some scratches but displays beautifully as you can see. Own a gorgeous frames set with the autograph of the 5th President of the United States.
