Here is a great artifact! It is an original War of 1812 period English naval cutlass. Officially known as the model 1804 British cutlass this was an important weapon during the War of 1812. The blade of the swords is 29-1/4th inches in length with a pleasing look all over. The blade has a single fuller along the top of the blade. It has the large heavy iron hand guard of the basket style. The original iron handle is intact and in a wonderful state of preservation. The handle has the ridges to make it easier to hold onto during onboard fighting. This one has a fantastic look all over. It isn't often that you get a chance at one of these War of 1812 British naval cutlasses so don't miss your chance.
