This is one cool looking sword! It is an original short saber from the Revolutionary War timeframe. This sword has a full-length 28-3/4ths inch curved, single-edged blade. The blade is 1-1/4th inches wide at the ricasso with a 22 inch long fuller along the spine. It has a gorgeous cast brass 5-1/2 inch hilt with the dog's head pommel that is also made of cast brass. It has the stylish four-slot guard with tapered and fluted knuckle bow. It sports the original spiral grooved superb quality wooden grip with 8 wraps of flat copper wire. The sword is completely unmarked except for a starburst maker's mark on obverse near ricasso. It is missing the scabbard as is so often the case because they were made of leather and brass and broke easily. This pattern of sword was a popular style for Revolutionary War officer's sabers, both English and American. This is a beautiful sword from all angles.
