Here is a neat Confederate belt buckle. This is the buckle referred to by collectors as the Round Corner C.S. with this pattern being known as the "Port Hudson" pattern. They get this nickname because most of the ones found int he early days came from the Mississippi River area. This is the solid cast belt buckle that was mainly issued to soldiers of the Army of Tennessee. This one was found near the area of Okolona, Mississippi which is located in Northern Mississippi. This means that it would have been lost by one of the men of the Army of Tennessee. It was recovered by a friend of mine , Phillip Moore. He found it several years ago. The face of the buckle has the clear "CS" letters. This is the pattern that has the black enamel paint in the background. This one still has some of the black hanging on after all of the years in the ground. The back of the plate lets us see that the buckle has the hooks with the lines in the mold. All three of the original hooks are intact. The buckle has the correct size measurements of 74mm by 47mm. This is a neat original Confederate belt buckle with a nice honest recovery location.
