It isn't often that you get a chance to own a piece that was owned and carried by the most famous and controversial figures of the Civil War, Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest. N.B. Forrest rose from the rank of a private to a Major General, the only man during the Civil War to do so. General Sherman once said, ”If it takes 10,000 men and breaks the U.S. treasury gets that devil Forrest!” After the Civil War, Forrest became the President of the Selma, Memphis and Marion Railroad. During this time he was given passes from the other railroads. These would allow Forrest to travel free of charge on any of the lines. This one was given by the Selma and Gulf Railroad. It is a pre-printed card that measures 3-3/4ths inches by 2-1/4th inches in overall size. It has the red ink with the gold 1874 date in the center. In beautiful brown ink it has "N B Forrest / Pres SM & MRR Co." and is signed by the General Superintendent of the line. It is accompanied by a modern Xerox image of the General in His Confederate uniform. Most people have never had the opportunity to own a piece that was owned and carried by a Confederate Icon. This is your chance!
