Scarce Excavated Civil War Confederate Cavalry Chatwin "C" Cuff Button CS128
Click on an image to enlarge

This is an attractive looking original cuff size Confederate cavalry button. This is the style listed as CS128av in Albert's book and CSC208As1 in Tice's Book. Tice states that these are "...very scarce...". These are referred to by collectors as the "Lined C" because the block style "C" on the face of the button has lines across the background. It has fine detail to the face of the button with the "C" showing up very well. On the back of the button it has the back and shank still intact. The back has traces of the "LONDON QUALITY" backmark still visible. This is the version that that is believed that the actual maker was Chatwin of Birmingham. You see the coat size buttons fairly frequently but you very seldom get a chance at one of these in a cuff size version. It has an attractive look as you can see in the pictures.
