1862 Edition of the 1861 Infantry Tactics Manual by Lippencott
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is the 1862 dated revised edition of the 1861 U.S. Army Regulations tactics manual. On the title page it states that it was printed by the Philadelphia firm of George W. Childs. This is the classic style of Army regulations that were used throughout the Civil War by union officers. It has 559 pages detailing everything from uniform regulations to instructions for the quartermaster's Department. It has many charts and graphs. The overall size of the book measures 5 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches in overall size. It has the original blue cover with the gold gilding on the spine. As you can see the book has some light wear but all of the pages appear to be present and accounted for. This is a nice piece of Civil War history that is priced for less than what a US belt buckle cells for these days.
