Here is a nice original bank note from the "STATE OF VIRGINIA, CITY OF RICHMOND"
of the state of Virginia.
This one was printed for the amount of 60 Cents. It was issued on April 14th 1862
and is so printed on the top right hand side of the note. This is right in the
heart of a town that would become one of the fiercest battles of the Civil War,
Richmond. In
the center of the note it has the dog sleeping by the treasury safe. It is
correctly hand signed and numbered in ink. What is so wonderful about this note is that the paper it was printed on was already printed on by another banking institution. Because of the demands for paper during the War, it was cheaper for the Virginia bank to get the used paper rather than to buy the new paper. The note is in nice circulated condition
and is 100% authentic in all regards. This pattern of bank note measures
approximately 5 inches by 2.5 inches in overall size. It comes in an acid free
holder for display and preservation.
