Spectacular Matching Pair of Dolphin Head Officer's Spurs From the Book!
Click on an image to enlarge
This is one of the most wonderful Civil War spurs you will ever get a chance to own! This is one of the highest grade boot spurs tat you could own at the time. They have the very distinctive rowel necks you will see. They are deigned like dolphin heads that actually look more like the sea serpents that appear as decoration on fine quality Civil War swords. The spurs are made of finely cast brass with the floral pattern to the spur bodies. The brass neck of each spur is the base of the sea serpent and they still retains some of the original gold gilding. Each spur still retains the original round smooth edged brass rowel. These spurs are the EXACT spurs that were pictured and described on page 112 of the fine spur book by Dr. Bob Baird entitled Confederate, US and Other Civil War Used Spurs. These are 100% matching and display gorgeously from all angles. They are nice enough for any collection or museum.
