This is an original metallic cartridge for the Civil War Spencer Repeating Cavalry Carbine or rifle. The cartridge is the correct .56 caliber which would have fit the model 1860 Spencer repeating rifle or carbine. It is a great excavated artifact from the famous Spencer repeater. The bullet and casing were found together as you see them and is NOT a reconstructed one. The verbal history that accompanied the piece is that the piece was recovered in the area of the battle of ' Kennesaw, Georgia.
