Click on an image to enlarge

This is a great looking artillery button from the War of 1812. This is a fine non-excavated coat size button. It has the Union eagle perched on the top of a cannon with the stack of cannonballs below the barrel of the cannon. Across the top it has "ARTILLERY" and down below it has "REGT". The button is in superb condition as you can see with a fine amount of the original gold gilding remaining. On the reverse of the button it has the original shank intact with the "TREBLE GILT" backmark and the crown design. In the button book this pattern is listed as AY46b. This is a great early button.
