President James Monroe Signed Land Grant For Land In Terre Haute Indiana
Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a wonderful piece of early American history. This is an original land-grant signed by The 5th President of the United States, James Monroe in 1824. This one was given to "James Beggs of Clark County Indiana...eighty acres." He was given these 80 acres in what they called the "...District of Terre Haute n the state of Indiana." In the lower right hand side of the document it has the vividly clear ink autograph of President James Monroe. On the left-hand side, it has the applied paper seal. The document has been beautifully framed and matted in a frame that measures 22 inches by 16-1/2 inches in overall size. The document itself measures approximately 15 inches by 9 inches in overall size. This is a great piece of early Presidential and Indiana history that is ready to hang on your wall.
