Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great looking early sword! It is an original example of the highly collectible "Eagle head" pommel military sword. These eagle head swords were very popular from about 1800 until the 1850's. This one has the nice early style eagle pommel and it is made of brass with nice detail to the eagle. The entire brass hand guard is present and it has a superb look. This is the pattern known to collectors as the "Five Ball" guard for obvious reasons. The cast brass handguard has the two places that have the five Ball shaped designs and each is in superb condition. The original handle is present and has a very pleasing look to the bone. The original bone handle is present on the grip and it has an attractive milky tan tone to the bone. The blade is full-length at 32 inches and is the straight bladed version. The blade is the ornate version that has the military and floral etching , including the panoply of arms. It still retains a nice amount of the original gold and blue finishing from the factory. This is a fine addition to an already attractive sword. The sword is accompanied by the original leather scabbard. The scabbard is missing the drag but the original top mount is intact. This is your chance to own an attractive bone handled Eagle pommel officers sword with the 1820 date.
