Here is an amazing Confederate fighting knife! This is a fantastic weapon. It has a cast brass handle that is made similar to the Confederate Artillery swords. It has the grip with the fish scale design to allow the soldier to get a better grip on the brass. The crossguard is distinctly different from the artillery because each side of this one has the tapered quillions. The knife measures 16 inches in overall length with the blade making up 11 of those inches. The blade is heavily made with the clip point design and the distinctive notch at the base. The blade is very well crafted. There are similar blade that were made in Georgia for their "Lasso" knives but the handle has more of a Tennessee style look. We don't know for sure who made it but it is 100% without a doubt a Confederate fighting knife that would have done quite a bit of damage. The knife came out of North Carolina a few years back. There is a similar knife that is illustrated on page 335 of the Bowie Knife book by Norm Flayderman. He states that the knife illustrated is pre-war and used by a riverboat captain but It looks more like a Confederate knife to me. He states that there were only 3 of these known at the time the book was published with this making the fourth. Since then it has been in the in the personal collection of country music legend, Hank Williams, Jr. He has decided to let a few thing go so now it can be yours. He was nice enough to sign a letter stating that it was in his collection. That makes a wonderful addition to this great artifact. It has spent the last several years in Hanks personal collection and this is the opportunity to add it to yours.
