Great Looking 1850's Militia Officer Sword with Etched Blade

Here is a fine looking sword from just before the Civil War. This is a militia style sword that we see sometimes used during the War. It has the full-length 27 inch blade. The blade has the original etching still visible on each side. The front side has the Union Eagle design with the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" motto above. The back side has the matching design with the additional floral and patriotic designs. The crossguard is made of brass and has an almost art deco design. The 1-piece ribbed bone grip is intact with a pleasing milky tone to the bone. The pommel is the curved design that has the leaf design on each side. It has some of the original gold gilding in the protected areas of the brass. It has the original brass chain link going from the pommel cap down to the crossguard. It is accompanied by the beautiful original brass scabbard. The scabbard has both of the rings intact if the soldier wanted to wear it on a belt as well as the stud in case they wanted to use a shoulder sling. The original brass throat and drag are present on the scabbard. This is a cool looking sword that doesn't cost thousands.
