Beautiful Eagle Head Officer's Sword with Silvered Guard & Pommel
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a great looking sword! It is the 1850's period eagle head officer's sword. This is the straight bladed version that is often listed as an infantry officer's sword. The blade is full-length at 28 inches. Each side of the blade was made without etching or engraving. That way it could be sold by any retailer without advertising for the actual maker. The blade, like the rest of the sword, has a wonderful look. The handguard has the ornate patterned hand guard. At the top of the sword it has the beautiful eagle head pommel cap and it still retains faint traces of the original silvering. The clam shell design of the hand guard has the large eagle design, The American eagle holds the arrows of war in one talon and the branch of peace in the other. The original bone handle of the sword is present on the grip. The bone has aged to a beautiful golden white tone with no chips or breaks. The sword is missing the scabbard and is priced accordingly. This is a beautiful eagle head design infantry officer's sword.
