Click on an image to enlarge
Here is a scarce original Civil War note. This one is from Wytheville, Virginia and from "HOBSON CLARK". Hobson Clark was a young physician and during the Civil War served as the principal examining physician for many of the recruits for the Confederate army who reported to the Wytheville area. This is the only known denomination issued by Clark and is excessively rare with only 2-4 surviving notes known. PMG notes a bit of rust that offers only minimal distraction. This is the first time we have been able to offer a note from this rare and interesting issuer. The note measures 5-5/8ths inches by 2-1/2 inches in size. It was professionally graded by the PMG Company and they graded it as "Very Fine". It comes in their holder for display and preservation.
