New Orleans Canal & Banking $100 Bill in Excellent Unissued Condition
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a true work of art as much as it is a bank note. It is an original $100 note from the Canal & Banking Company in New Orleans, Louisiana. This one was never issued as you can tell by the blanks where the names and signatures would have gone. This note displays superbly and was never issued and it is from the pre-Civil War era as they were not printed after the Civil War. It has the scene of the beautiful sailing ship in the center. On the right hand side it has the image of the young man. If you notice down in the bottom center of the note it has the "NEW ORLEANS" location of the bank. On the right hand side of the note has the ornate "100" design. It states on the front that the bank will pay the bearer in New Orleans. The back of the note it is left with no printing. This is referred to by collectors as the note being "Uniface". The note comes in an acid free holder for display and preservation. What a fantastic display piece!
