Beautiful 1855 Production .31 Caliber Colt Revolver With 5 Inch Barrel Length
Click on an image to enlarge
This is a beautiful original 5 inch barrel length version .31 caliber Colt revolver. This is the classic version known to collectors as the model 1849 Colt. It has all matching serial numbers, including the barrel wedge, of 103,181 which was made in 1855 so it could have seen service during the Civil War on either side. The brass trigger guard and backstrap have a great looking color to the brass with a superb amount of the original factory silver. The action functions well on all positions. The 1-piece wood grips are made of walnut and are the original ones and they still retain a beautiful amount of the original varnish. The cylinder retains about 95% of the stagecoach holdup scene still visible which is much more than you usually encounter. The top of the barrel has the double line Samuel Colt maker's mark and New York City location. New York City was the location of the sales office with the actual production taking place in Hartford, Connecticut. The barrel and cylinder still retain a very pleasing amount of the original factory bluing. The frame has the case colors under the patina. The Colt's Patent mark is visible on both the frame and cylinder to go along with the barrel markings. This is a very nice original Civil War era .31 caliber Colt revolver that is a step or two above of the ones you usually encounter.
