Original Revolvers From The Remington Firearms Company
Civil War Military Model Civil War Remington .44 Revolver With Cartouche
Click on an image to enlarge

This is an original military model Civil War .44 caliber Remington revolver. This is the pattern known to collectors as the Army model. This one has a very pleasing look with a great dove gray tone with the bluing in the protected areas. You can still some of the triple line Remington maker's mark and Ilion, New York production location across the top of the barrel. The serial numbers are 30,027 under the grips and the matching number under the loading lever. This is well within in the production since they made approximately 128,000 of these revolvers before the Civil War ended. It has a very nice pair of 2-piece walnut grips on the handle. You can still see the inspector's cartouche stamp on the left hand grip. It has the "BH" letter which are the initials of Benjamin Hannis who approved it for military service. The rest of the gun has the correct military sub inspector stamps. These stamping is where the gun was approved for military service by the Government inspector. This lets us know that the gun is the military model rather than a civilian model. At the end of the barrel it has the original cone style silver sight. The mechanics on the gun are all nice and crisp on all positions. This is a nice solid Civil War Remington army model revolver. '
