This
is an authentic piece of colonial currency from the 1700's. These early U.S.
currency pieces from the colonies that would make up our states are a true
piece of history. This one was issued by Rhode Island. It is clearly dated from
Newport on May 1786. This one was worth the amount of 6 Pence. Yes
that's right at that time currency was still figured in English or Spanish
values. In the middle of the note it has the image of the Rhode Island anchor.The reverse of this particular style note his unmarked which is referred to by collectors as being "Uniface". The note is on a large piece of paper that measures approximately 3-3/8ths inches by 6-1/8ths inches in overall size and
is in gorgeous condition. The note has been graded professionally by the PMG grading serviceand is rated by them as a "CHOICE UNCIRCULATED" note and adds that it was printed on "Exceptional Paper Quality". It comes in their acid-free holder for preservation and
display.
