This
is an authentic piece of colonial currency from the 1700's. These early U.S.
currency pieces from the colonies are a true piece of history. This one was
issued the State of Georgia. It is clearly dated from 1776. This one was worth
the amount of "FOUR SPANISH MILLED DOLLAR". Yes that's right at that time
currency was still figured in English or Spanish values. In the lower right
hand corner it has the image of a seal with the motto around the edge that reads "LIBERTAS CARIOR AURO". This Latin translates to "Freedom is More Precious Than Gold". On the back of the note it was
made without printing. This is known as the note being "Uniface". The note
measures approximately 4-3/4ths inches by 3-1/4ths inches in overall size. The
note is in beautiful well circulated condition. It has been graded by the PMG Grading Service and is rated by them as a "Very Good" note and notes that
it has some repairs and stains. It comes in the PMG acid-free holder for
preservation and display.
