This is a scarce Confederate postage stamp. This is an excellent unissued one Cent Confederate States of America postage stamp that has the likeness of statesman and states rights pioneer John C. Calhoun in the center. These were printed in England and brought through the blockade. By the time they arrived the 1 cent denomination wasn't enough to send a letter after the postage had went up to two cents. Therefore not many of them were kept and fewer were used. This one has a great pale orange tint color and is in nice unused condition all the way around.
