It isn't often that you see Civil War dated newspapers from the state of California. The state wasn't heavily populated so there weren't a lot of people to sell the papers to in the first place. Those that were printed didn't have a high survival rate. This is an original and the fragile paper has some tears and chips round the edges but the print is still very legible and very interesting. This one is dated from August 27th 1864. It has lots of articles including the news of General Hancock repulsing the enemy at the battle that would be known as the Second Battle of Reams Station on the 25th of August 1864. Another tell of General Kilpatrick fighting in Georgia. There are many cool advertisements including one for a gun shop in Sacramento. This is a nice original Civil War newspaper from California.
