Original Civil War Bullseye Pattern Canteen With Partial Sling

This is a fine authentic Civil War soldier's canteen. This is the classic style known to collectors as the "Bullseye" pattern with the reinforcement rings on the sides. The canteen still retains the majority amount of the original cover. It has the white paint on the sides that has aged to a milky tan color. It has the old sticker label that reads "Property of Frances D. Noyes. Canteen used by her Grandfather Butterfield in the Civil War." You can tell by the look of the cover that this one saw service. This is a nice addition to a fine original canteen. It still has an attractive look and all three of the original strap loops are still hanging onto the sides. This one still retains a portion of the shoulder sling which is the style with the blue color ticking down the center of the sling. It still has the original chain portion that was to hold stopper present in the spout but the stopper itself is missing in action. This is a nice original Civil War canteen for your collection.
