This is a beautiful original non-dug coat size 1820 to 1830 period artillery corps button. This one has great looking detail. Across the top of the button it has the word "ARTILLERY" and below it has the cannon on the front with the eagle perched on top of the barrel. Below the gun is a stack of six cannonballs. This one has the original shank present on the back of the button and you can read the backmark of "*.*.*. EXTRA .*.*.*. RICH R&W ROBINSON ATTLEBOROUGH" This is the style listed as figure AY59 in Albert's button book and as AM212 in Tice's button book. It is a great looking 1-piece artillery coat button in non-excavated condition.
