These is a wonderful pistol with a great look. These are neat little guns and this one is special. These small single shot pistols were made by the Brown Manufacturing Company of Newburyport, Massachusetts. They made them from 1866 until 1873 and only made about 16,500. Across the top of the 2-1/2 inch barrel it still has the "SOUTHERNER" marking still clearly visible. These with this marking were made from 1866 until 1869 according to Flayderman. The barrel turns out to the side when you have the hammer cocked back for loading. These guns fire a .41 caliber rimfire metallic cartridge. The action catches crisply just as it should. This is the version that is constructed using the iron frame. What is extra special about this particular gun is that it has a gorgeous pair of ivory grips on the handle. On the underside of the barrel as well as the top of the frame, it has the serial number of 4,217 still clearly visible. This is a great looking gun!
