This is the scarce version of the classic Confederate uniform button of the Civil War. This is the pattern that was worn by the actual fighting men of the day. It has the large block letter "I" on the face of the button that denotes the Infantry branch of service. What is special about this button is that it is one of the ones that were produced with the stars around the "I" on the face of the button. These are a lot scarcer than the standard tinback Confederate infantry buttons. This is the pattern known to collectors as the "Tinback I with Stars" because the backing of the button is made of tin. This one has the hairline crack to the face that runs around to the back of the button. It is mentioned for exactness and is priced accordingly. This is a very nice looking excavated coat size Confederate infantry uniform button with the rare stars on the face.
