Here is a neat Civil War dated letter. This one was written from Horn Lake, Mississippi and is dated from April the 4th 1862 just 2 days before the Battle of Shiloh. The lady is writing to her sister in Arkansas. She tells of how a "Mr. Logan" died and the Horn Lake and Hernando boys came home (from service) and that she hasn't seen but one soldier since they went back. She says when they come back she plans on wearing her best bonnet and looking her prettiest. She references some of the boys telling War stories about Cumberland Gap. The ink is light but legible. It is accompanied by the original envelope with the Horn Lake postmark. You get the letter and the envelope.
