This is a scarce Confederate postage stamp. This it the unissued one Cent Confederate States of America postage stamp that has the likeness of Southern statesman and President Andrew Jackson of Tennessee in the center. Jackson gained fame from his brave service during the War of 1812 which included the defeat of the British at the battle of New Orleans. He rode that fame into the White House. These were printed in England and brought through the blockade. These 2 cent stamps were to replace the earlier John C. Calhoun 1 cent denomination stamp that wasn't enough to send a letter after the postage had went up to two cents. These were issued in 1863. This one has a great brownish red tint color and is in nice unused condition all the way around. '
